In 1867 Autumn Rockland Newspaper business news in Thomaston noted that “Capt. Oliver Jordan had sold for $5,500. One of his stores in the Union Block together with rooms overhead and a home in the rear to Sanford Delano “the Well known Saloon Keeper” who will fit it up as a first class saloon that will be as large and as well conducted as any in the state. Mr. Delano’s past experience will be sufficient Guarantee of the above assertion; anyone may call on him will find he knows how to keep a saloon.”
So in other words – Thomaston used to be the fun place to be! Time to renew the original spirit of this town.
